What are the symptoms of AIDS?

AIDS is a medical condition that can expose an infected person to a variety of different medical problems including chronic infections and serious cancers. So far, AIDS researchers have identified around 30 "indicator diseases" of AIDS. Each of these indicator diseases have their own medical symptoms. Some of the medical diseases that are common with AIDS patients are: Pneumonia which can affect the breathing and often results in a person's death. There is also an external skin-cancer that is called Kaposi's Sarcoma. Many people living with AIDS may have a number of digestive issues and problems that can cause a large anount of weight loss called Wasting syndrome.

It is important to remember that the only way to really know if you are infected is to be properly tested for an HIV infection. • white spots or other unusual items on the tongue, in your mouth, or in your throat
  • pneumonia and other lung problems
  • blotches on or under the skin or inside you mouth, your nose, or your eyelids
